FAQ

Does GKTW offer any resources to help in my fundraising efforts?

We’ve prepared a page of helpful resources here. You’ll be able to download event logos, a make-your-own flier template for Microsoft word, a thermometer graphic, the event flier, a printable thank you card template and thank you graphics to post on your donors’ Facebook wall.

When do I get my t-shirt and fundraising prizes?

All shirts, certificates and prizes will be distributed to participants on the day of the event.

Are the fundraising prizes cumulative?

Yes, the fundraising benchmark prizes are cumulative. For instance, someone raising $1,000 would receive the Top Fundraiser shirt, Fast Lane pass, tally counter, carabiner and awareness band.

How do I enter an offline donation (cash or check) on my fundraising page?

When accepting offline donations, please be sure to collect the donor’s name and address so that GKTW can send them an acknowledgement letter. You can then log-in to your FirstGiving page, click on your Coasting For Kids fundraising page and click on the “Enter offline donation.” You’ll then be prompted to enter your donor’s info. Once completed, the offline donation will be reflected on the thermometer on your fundraising page. All offline donations are collected at check-in on the day of the event.

Am I required to marathon ride the coaster throughout the entire event?

You do not have to stay on the coaster for the duration of the event. Breaks throughout the day are mandatory and you are more than welcome to come and go as you please. Bathroom breaks, or just breaks from riding in general, are allowed and encouraged.

Why is there a registration fee and fundraising minimum?

The registration fee helps cover costs incurred by GKTW such as t-shirts, certificates, signage, shipping costs and more.

Am I still able to raise the $25 registration fee?

While the registration fee is required upfront, you may still raise the $25 prior to signing up—try getting a friend or family member to sponsor your initial registration.

Why is there a fundraising minimum?

The primary goal of Coasting For Kids is to raise funds to support the mission of Give Kids The World and help provide cost-free vacations for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

What happens if I register but do not reach the fundraising minimum?

In order to participate in the marathon, each participant must raise a minimum of $75 in donations prior to the event. If you have not met your fundraising minimum prior to the event, please contact us at 407-396-1114, ext. 4504 for fundraising assistance.

Am I able to create a team page to fundraise with my friends/family?

You are able to set-up a team fundraising page as part of your registration. Please note, however, that the $25 registration fee and $75 fundraising must be reached by each team member in order to participate. Top fundraising prizes are awarded on an individual basis.

If I can’t make it to the event, can I still fundraise?

Absolutely! You may register at no cost as a “Virtual Rider” and still raise funds as part of this event.

Is there an age requirement to participate?

There is no age requirement. All participants must meet ride requirements as determined by each park, including height restrictions.

How much of the registration fee and money I raise will go to
Give Kids The World?

100% of the registration fee and money raised benefits GKTW. Worth Magazine recently named GKTW the #1 most fiscally responsible charity, so you can rest assured that all of your hard work is making a difference! Ninety-three cents of every dollar donated goes directly to the programs that serve children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. GKTW maintains a low administrative rate of just 7%.

How else does Cedar Fair get involved in the mission of GKTW?

In addition to hosting the annual Coasting For Kids fundraiser, Cedar Fair proudly participates in the IAAPA World Passport for Kids Program. Following their weeklong stay at the Village, the deserving families that GKTW serves are presented with the IAAPA passport which treats their family to one complimentary visit to each participating theme park across the United States during a one-year period.

How can my Coaster Club become a sponsor of Coasting For Kids?
